Meet the Grahams was the perfect song to overshadow Family Matters. It wasn't a better song, but it had crazy shock value. Secret kids, sex rings, Drake getting raided, etc. Clearly it was all foolishness but it served its purpose and blocked Drake's "Nuke".

In a few years there will probably be some Harvard class that studies how Kendrick handled this battle. It was flawless.

On the tail end of him releasing his worst album (Mr Morale)? That would be a career altering L for Kendrick and crown Drake as the guy. It was worth the risk to enter the battle. He simply didn't consider the stakes or take his opponent seriously. Literally the same mistake he made against Pusha, btw.
