That's a unique song in Drake's catalog, I'll gladly admit. It's basically the type of track SZA and Doja have been doing for awhile. I wouldn't call it alternative but you know nikkas gonna hear a guitar with no 808s and call it that. But that's one track (plus the Chino one)...are you going to deny the dominant sound on the album is the same downtempo shyt he's been doing for well over a decade? It's basically diminishing returns at this point. Remember when we got so in tune with the "Ross single' sound that those tracks stopped having any impact because it was just retreads? Or when Meek tried to remake Dreams & Nightmares that his intros became jokes. Drake is at that point now creatively. He needs somebody to explain to him that there's more to r&b than 90s/Jodeci/etc.
I'll at least give Weeknd credit for shifting from his own staple sound and trying something else but at this point he sounds dead, creatively. The synth pop shyt is super played.
