It's obvious that anyone downplaying it is on Drake's dikk because it's a bad look for him. If it didn't matter, Drake wouldn't need defending from it.

The only thing that has changed is that fans are willing to let it slide because they're more emotionally invested in a rapper's success and so many Drake fans aren't really Hip Hop fans. Anytime before now Drake would become a pariah in rap.

I just wonder how many more tracks & stories it'll take before fans are done with him.

What in the fukk are you talking about.

No one cares about anything you just said. People care about how the music sounds.

Any fans that Drake lost with those reference tracks were nerds that post on message boards that dont go to concert or support any artist they fukk with.

Drake fans are mostly hiphop fans.

When has there every been a time someone in hiphop became a pariah?

It takes a team to make a song let alone consistently good music.

It's a reason why the term "ghost" writer exists

They're input is not supposed to be known so the artist's portrayal in the song is to be taken as 100% authentic to the listener but the reality is that top level song making almost always includes multiple writers no matter the genre.

We just want rap to be different...

Terrible post and this is the type of shyt that's slowly shifting rap into pop music like Taylor Swift.

Rappers are expected to write their own shyt because that's literally all they do, besides recite it. They don't have to play a single instrument. 99% of them (including Drake) can't even carry a tune, so singing is out of the question.

I'm :snoop: at it only takes two things to be a rapper and you're telling me 50% of that is good enough.

To make matters worse Drake's camp actively encouraged the idea he wrote his own shyt....but we're at fault for actually expecting it.:what:

I didn't say that we shouldn't expect a rapper to write their own lyrics. That fact is what rap was built on....

I'm saying that when it comes to making music, it almost always takes the input of multiple parties. How much each artist writes on their own, we never really know but this reference track situation definitely shines a light on how the rap game functions and it seems to be no different than any other genre of music.

I was disappointed to hear Drake getting fed tracks just like most but you'd be a fool to pretend like it's only him.

If the current top dog in rap is getting reference tracks and ghost written lyrics, it's pretty safe to assume it's happening everywhere else too.

It's a reason why the Stevie Wonders and Princes of the world are so rare. Most artists just don't have the all in one talent to write, have stage presence, etc but somehow in rap, we actually expect exactly that..
