Black people aren't a monolith. That's why no one can define what precisely "the culture" is without holes in the definition
I've been in plenty spaces in the past year (both domestic and international) where the energy towards Drake and Kendrick wasn't on this weirdo overanalyzing shyt. New York, Memphis, Paris, Jamaica... nikkas was rocking to Drake and Kendrick.
Drake lost, no question about that. But this has evolved beyond Jay-Z 2002 status (of him losing to Nas, and him still being a top dog in the game).
Now it's weird psychoanalysis of his demeanor and interviews which has not changed. He's just as vague and vapid as he was pre-beef, and that was cool because people weren't desperately looking for signs he's in some sort of mental collapse.
And everyone in the game has been on this weird shyt where rap journalism is shunned. Has Kendrick gone in front of any serious rap publication, why is SZA interviewing him? Has Future? Or Mustard or Metro or 40? Why is Drake speaking to bloggers instead of someone serious who can scrutinize his movements over the past 2 years?
I'm just waiting for all the weirdo stan energy to die out because there's still a lot to unpack here.
