Can't really dispute what he saying. NY isnt really needed in the grand scheme of things. I mean for up and comers its cool to do Breakfast Club/Hot 97 interviews but it isnt really necessary. I mean NY cant even break their own artists successfully anymore (Troy Ave cant even sell 8K physical copies in a city with 8 million people )

It's not even about NY as a city but as the centre of the business, he's talking about the labels and shyt. Everyone still does marketing runs in NY, meetings with labels, radio (for the internet presence) and all that type of shyt in NY and in the end the person signing your contract will be in NY. However the person in NY might not have anything to do with NY. It's just where his/her office is located, some labels have LA as well but all of them will still maintain an office in NY.
With the internet and stuff, it's not really needed anymore. All you need is a studio and a computer.
