i blame smartphones and social algorithms. smartphones, because once we didn't need to remember things anymore, retaining information became less valuable. and the algorithm doesn't reward research; it rewards hot takes. so at this point people dont even bother to look shyt up before speaking.
thank god i'm old enough to remember being blown away when i realized google could help you find information about.. anything. i literally won't even join a conversation without googling to make sure i understand what i'm speaking about, if i can help it.
