It was a jab and he got backlash for the apology, not the track. (The track being wack is your personal opinion plus Cole was lying cause all Kendrick's albums are classics)

He squashed it because Schoolboy reached out to him and confirmed that K Dots beef is and has always been with Drake, not him.

Drake tried to twist Cole and pit him against Kendrick cause he knew he wasn't gonna be able to battle him by himself.
