Aight...I've given this enough chances to know it sucks.

One Dance is the song of the year right now tho
Pop Style has certain elements that are great
Controlla the original version was great

His raps are ass, and his singing is poor, which is probably why when Majid Jordan comes on we're blown away because at least he can carry a tune.

Drake can still be hugely successful, but he can't try to rap anymore, he's just gotta try to make hits. Get a cool beat or concept, do a song with a hot artist and have them write his verse.

He needs to follow the Diddy formula cause he's not being taken seriously as a rapper anymore and he can't sing either.

I don't know if you're on social media or if you hang around people aged 18-28 but watch how much his raps quoted this summer. This album is gonna really resonate culturally even if it doesn't marvel the rappity rap fans. People quoting this album is already getting nuts.

Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
I'm hearing crazy numbers is this shyt true over 750k :lupe:

Yessir.

Hotline Bling is crediting the album for 700K sales before it's release. Everything it does after that was solely based on this album, though.

Old Streams From “Hotline Bling” Might Ensure Drake's VIEWS Goes Platinum

According to new rules set by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), “1,500 on-demand song streams in the United States [hold] the same value as 10 individual track sales or 1 full album sale.” Forbes writes that on Spotify, “Hotline Bling,” which was released on July 31, 2015, has been played 400 million times around the world. On Drake's official Youtube channel, it's been streamed 700 million times globally. Since “Hotline Bling” is now officially on VIEWS, the streams from the United States could count towards the album's certification.

We'll see...

There's no point in discussing that cause time will tell. But that I can tell you now is that this album is poor. It's not as good as his others. And most other reviews on social media seem to have the same mindset.

U know DJ XG and Pravv from out there ..

Where u spin @
I dj'd last night in Singapore and played 'childs play' and the new song with Rihanna. The people here truly didnt appreciate.
In fact DJing NEW music outside on a pure hiphop circle just doesnt work like the old days... It was depressing. Those tunes are great.

I like the album alot btw.

Bro this shyt is FIRE

I don't get anyone hating honestly....Drake gave us some serious cuts to apply just to the background of life. Thats what dude does.

Everyone else is out here trying to be some sort of lyrical-miracle-boom-bap assassin...and Drake is saying...lets go left, lets smooth things out, and lets ride out to this shyt.

Dude delivered and its not even deniable.

Tell me your thoughts on the other tracks.

You said you don't understand the hating meanwhile you've spent a nice portion of this thread throwing shade at Kendrick

But besides that, please help me understand what makes this album any more enjoyable than NWTS or TC. I've listened and it sounds like just more of the same (outside of the production which is dope). I don't see the growth or anything unique that makes this album special. You've already basically admitted the raps are elementary at best and the singing is just kinda boring at this point. It's not a bad album, but when people only really enjoy 4-8 songs on 20 tracks album it's hard to say he delivered

You are right about this being background music because this is perfect music to play in stores in the mall or shyt like that

I'm just trying to understand what makes this MUSIC special, and yes I go out and have a social life and friends so let's not use that angle

This album isn't good brehs
I just don't get what people see in Drake. Maybe it's because I grew up in an era that many rap legends came from and artist like Drake are all this new group of listeners has. I keep wanting this guy to rap and all he wants to do is sing. His songs all sound the same to me too. I prefer his songs like this

or this

but he seems to prefer to make tracks like this

It's like Nicki Minaj. She keeps trying to sing and make pop music and I just wanna hear her spit.
