lol.. why you gotta be 30+ tho???..

I always say thats what separates the younger generation from the older. Young mufukkas cannot appreciate anything not current..

How is this any different than the older genration and 90s was rap heaven nikkas thinking everything current is trash?

If I was a Drake fan and hadn't heard Kane I'd look at the poll results and think damn most people think this guy Big Daddy Kane better than Drake, let me check out his shyt...

Do you know where you're at?

Some of these post are getting ridiculous and repetitive. I never ever compare rappers of different eras because the new rappers just take styles from the older ones and make them better. Same with producers and you can't fault them for that. I will do current rapper vs current rapper but a post like this is so out of place.

Make them better? Drake has never done anything as good as Kane.

You are missing the point I am saying that to me their are a lot more good rappers than back in the golden yrs. Look at Jay, who emulated his style from Kane, Pun and Rae from G Rap, Ghost from Slick Rick and so forth and so on. Same with producers, Kanye who emulated Rza and Marley Marl, Alchy from Muggs but you can easily say that all the current gen do it better than the older people, but if they are not rapping no more how can we compare a style that was ahead of its time in the 80s and 90s to styles that everyone do right now maybe a little bit better? I am just saying I don't compare rappers from different eras because we do not know how these rappers would fare in the current state of rap now. You get where I am getting at with this?

I think I do, thanks for the explanation. I'm not certain about that though, it depends what your classing as the golden era too. Jay, great artist, I have him above Kane on my list but due to the fact like you said Kane stopped making material. I don't think you can though, I don't think you can say a... mm.. T.I does it better than a Scarface. I think anybody can be compared in any era cause it's about quality music. I don't think everyone can d the styles at all, shyt Rakim, G Rap, Kane, Chuck, Slick and other did I have never heard replicated or bettered. I don't define it by what era your in but the quality of the music, I have no problem putting a new dude over a person from the so called golden era if there's good enough on the music to be considered that. I see where your coming from, but respectfully disagree.

That is cool but again when you have fathered your style from another dude, you really see what they did and just do it better. Jay has been in the game a lot longer than Kane actively and you see Kane in him all the time, but again it is an unfair comparison to see who is the better of the 2. The eras have changed and so has the music. Jay is still putting in work as Kane has retire over a decade ago actively. So you can say either is better than either but until we hear both of them in their prime at the same time I tend not to judge. Competition can bring out the best and worst in people and you can see who they really are. Some will say Kane because he was way ahead of his time but again its like Kanye-Rza, both are good producers but people will say Kanye because he has a longer track record, but a lot of his beats are samples and are not originally beats he made himself, so you can look at it that way. Rza did sample alot but a lot of his beats were ones he made himself.

This is a tough call for me. At the age of 27 I'm familiar with all of Kanes albums, had to go back and study over the past 5 years. At his very best I'd have to go with Kane

I was too much of a homophobe to listen to Drizzy until the past 2 years. His musics really grown on me and I'd have to consider him to be more consistent then BDK. BDK had some wack songs, usually because of wack production or that Big Scoob rapper that ruined some of his songs.

Overall i think i gotta go with Drake on this
