:laff: You going to be disappointed in the near future.

But anyways, his legacy is cemented. Drake has put up numbers, hits, and his stimulus package was the hottest thing for a VERY long time.
I won't be, because I understand how the popular Black narrative treats its history...As a trend...

Look around you, how many people talk about the musical impact of guys like Isaac Hayes and James Brown? Yes, they get the occasional shout out when the occasional conversation on rap music history pops up, but then the genre just keeps moving onto something new...

How many Black Teens today are even engaged in a conversation about the progression of rap music from breaks, to analog synths, to sampling all the way down to trap/drill beats? How many Black Teens today appreciate that history and progression/diversification?

Drake is a trend...Those who love his music today, will swear that he was the greatest thing since sliced bread, when they get old...The wonders of a drug called nostalgia...But the youngins of the future will "flat top" him and swear by a newer and more trendier future artist...

Unless Drake continues to be a pop icon, his music will not have the impact that you believe, in the future...More talented musicians than Drake are almost forgotten by popular Black Narrative...

Also, what critique is there about Drake's music today? It makes the girls shake their buttocks in the club...There is NO CURRENT discussion about the musical and technical aspects of this OVO sound Drake fans swear by...There is NO CURRENT discussion about the sociological impact of the OVO sound on the Black Community...

The only thing people are saying is "It makes women shake their buttocks in the club"...Well, something else in the future will make "women shake their buttocks in the club" and there will be little need to talk about the OVO sound...Except that it was a popular trend once upon a time...

Black Music has very little regard of its history...That is why so many Black Children today believe EDM and Rock music are NOT "Black" music...

Sad

Drake is in the same category as Milli Vanili...In Hip Hop you are REQUIRED to write your own rhymes to be in the GOAT argument...

Drake makes good music or his fans the same way Milli Vanili did...We accept that...And that's his legacy...

He is not in the same bracket as 2Pac, Eminem, Jay Z, Nas Biggie, DMX and etc...Dude should be compared to NSync, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Flo Rida, Pittbull and the likes...

Milli Vanilli lip sang, Drake sings/raps songs others may have wrote some or all of. There's a huge difference :francis:

Milli Vanilli lip sang, Drake sings/raps songs others may have wrote some or all of. There's a huge difference :francis:
(1) I don't think Millie Vanili lip sang in the recording studio...Therefore, I am comparing Drake's studio performance to Milli Vanili's studio performance...

(2) Many performers lip sing...Historically, I haven't heard anybody argue that lip rapping/singing on stage is taboo...Rappers even have Hype Man to fill in bars that they can overdub in the studio, but are very difficult to perform on stage...

(3) Conclusion, you were boiling for so much hate and a need to defend Drake that you nagged me...And members of this forum think I am bugging when I state that this neg/rep system is such a retarded and invalid determinant of quality posting vs trolling...

Drake and Milli Vanili both have people writing music for them...True
Both were SUPER popular pop icons in their time...True

So, where is the "huge difference"...?:umad:

Why should a rapper's legacy be tied to his label? This is like saying Nas should be defined by Ill Will records lol

Drake legacy is up in the mix. VFT6 better deliver or nikkas will continue to roast this man. He can't be doing sing songy tracks anymore. It will grow stale like Ja Rule's breath after the club and Newports. The streets will never accept him as one of their own. No matter what you new Black C00ns say. Drake knows the average person in the trenches won't relate to his struggle. MF had to write about how he came up hard and he lived in the most privileged community in Toronto. Say what you will, only teenie boppers and hoes are really loyal to him and his brand. The average cat in the hood respects and adores a Max B, Pimp C, Boosie lite rappers. Don't need to sell, but own the hearts and minds of the yutes. No number 1 records, no streaming, no social media is gonna change that. Also, legitimately, the questions of ghostwriting will put an asterisk on his claim as one of the greats. He craves the respect of his elders like Hov,'Ye, and company. 'Ye never claimed to be the best rapper alive and never claimed to be the purest emcee around like Mrs. Drizzy Rogers did. I like Drake, but even his singing isn't as great as his fellow CACnadian The Weeknd, whose actually gonna leave a major mark on pop culture. He'll fall off like his mentor, and his fall off will be even more worse. The chinks are apparant now, the fatal wound is being waited upon by the wolves in the industry. Drake said so in the Work track: "Sorry if I'm way less friendly I got nikkas tryna end me" and I'm out.

I remember thinking something similar about Busta Rhymes and Flipmode Squad.
I was 15, though.

So, where is the "huge difference"...?:umad:

I mean, you can make shyt completely up or you can do 3 seconds of googling to find facts. The guys couldn't sing at all, they just pantomimed on stage.

Milli Vanilli became one of the most popular pop acts in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Their success turned to infamy when Morvan, Pilatus and their agent Sergio Vendero confessed that Morvan and Pilatus did not actually sing any of the vocals heard on the record. The pair decided to return the Grammy awards and asked they be given to the real vocalists.

Wherever the lyrics come from, it's actually Drake rapping or singing them. So again, HUGE DIFFERENCE :camby:

I'd Neg you again if I could for defending a baseless point :umad:
