In a way sure. When macklemores album dropped he wasnt being pushed. Thrift shop became viral then the label started working the hell out of it and him and his album. That album sold like 80k first week ending up doing 1.5 . The machine is still there behind them they just arent seeing a big marketing push on the same level.
