DREAD HEADS PLEASE ASSEMBLE!!!

So I've been growing my hair out for the last 14 months or so and accumulated a good 7-8 Inches of hair. I'm getting a little tired of the soul fro and i'm about to switch it up to dreads. Tell me about y'all experiences with dreads, Maintenance tips, Misconceptions people may have had and the spiritual freedom being locked up has given you... Put a breh on to what I should expect.

But yeah my hair is long now...been growing them since October of 2007.
I started out with about 100 thin dreads....At some point in like 2010 I got dread envy and realized I hated having thin locks and wanted them much thicker so I got them combined, now I have a about 60 dreads but they're much thicker. I wish I would have had my ex Girlfriend start them thicker.

I pretty much free form these days, occasionally I get them re-twisted and braided or put in plats.....but I prefer the rough rugged look I actually want my dreads to look like Chris Johnson's of the Tennessee Titans.

But yeah everywhere I go, women compliment my dreads.

Its hard in the beginning because you cant really get your hair done too much so beanies are your best friend.

But when you start flocking the bytches just hop out of no where.

Loc'd up for almost five years. Contrary to popular belief, water IS your friend. Clean locs=good locs.

Let your hair breathe.
Don't over twist
Avoid products that have petroleum in them.

if you live in a hot place they gonna itch like a bytch the first couple months. get in a hot car you gon get uncomfortable in a few you probably gonna wanna pull them hoes constantly. DONT DO IT. u keepin em from lockin up. and it usually takes a 1 yr-1and a half or more for all of em to lock. when u first get em twisted keep um twisted for 2 months them undo it and redo cause you'll have more dreads. thats all i can think of right now. and its a process so if you aint got patience it's gonna teach a lil thing about it. oh and biotin. invest in biotin my nikka
