i don't know about these 'dreads' you seem to speak on but i myself have luxury locs:blessed:

and i was getting finessed as you are presently , and i say that to say this you should go every 2 weeks in starting process... normally you shouldn't interlock only twist and interlock when its just absolutely needed. i can show pics of my hair , and although I'm not from harlem, I'm harlem influenced and showing your hair to another man is a no no :dame:

but ya its definitely expensive to maintain , once it locks you should be good to go.. what type of hair you got u 9 ether?
My hair is extremely curly and soft. The first couple of weeks she was doing it, my hair was coming loose within three days. Last time I went she cut off just a piece above both ears. It actually looks a lot better now because the soft loose hair was driving me crazy.

This new lady that my friend know use to do his dreads. Sometime next week I'll go to her for a consultation. If I don't like what she says then I'll try to find someone else. Some dude approached me at starbucks and said he braids hair, at first I thought he was coming on to me but he doesn't do dreads. What kinda man approaches another man and randomly asks him something like that but I digress...

Dallas is a big fukkin city, I know there are some people out here that can do it and not try to get over.

i have really soft and curly hair as well. haven't combed my hair in about 2 years. my locks started to form naturally around the later half of the first year.

the only downside is that all of my hair is not locked. but if it's not locking as fast as you want, don't worry and def don't drop bank every week to do it. just twist yourself

Lmao, Ive had dreads more than half my life. The main part of having locks is going through them ugly stages, Youre about to look fukked up for a good year or so before things start to look "nice" if you cant handle that dont waste your time. and LOL at getting a retwist every week. You bout to be bald

Breh I think your problem is that you are looking to other people to do something that your hair is naturally going to do by itself. You simply need to guide it into the right direction and let it do its thing. Like others have said it's a game of patience. Don't worry to much about unraveling and let your hair live. In the long run I guarantee you looking a little unkempt is a lot better than having thin locks or looking like you have apolecia.

If it really comes down to it you could easily learn to palm roll your own hair and go to a professional a couple times a year to make sure everything is right

Yea she is trying you, I have the same type of hair and it took me almost 2 years for mines to loc :mjcry:and you should only get a re twist like once a month, if she is good with her hands it will last but you can't wash them alot

to many re-twist means they will be thin and you will have to buddy them or they will pop..I'm like 10 years strong now and mines are past my waist

This. I care for my own locks. I retwist maybe once a month and I never do it tight. I know a guy who had beautiful loc for a long time who is now wears it bald b/c the whole crown of his head is gone.
