Let's add a little much needed context to this topic.

In the context of having to work a 9-5 being the reason you are getting "crisp af", it may not be all that celebratory worthy. Not if your goal is to be self sufficient and be your own boss, answering to your own dress code.

Which brings me to my next frame of context; dressing down at your leisure generally means you are successful, answer to no one, and are your own boss.

But dressing up and getting "crisp af" is highly desirable, including by yours truly, if it is for recreational reasons such as a night out, wedding, etc.
I love getting fresh for those occassions.

But I think all of our ultimate goals should be to not have to dress up to walk into ANYBODY's office, no matter how much money they pay us..because the goal is to be your OWN boss and be able to stroll into your OWN "office" dressed however you would like to dress.




TLDR; we're over thinking what OP intended this thread to be but since we took it there: It's okay to dress sharp if you're doing so on your own terms,

it's okay to dress down because: You're so successful that you're own your own terms.

theres no distractions here that i can't control. at work they have this open work space bullshyt and i can see everything and hear everyone's conversations
i host a lot of status calls for the projects i work on, and its way harder listening to what people are saying with a bunch of people around me cackling about something or hearing these old ass women talk about their diabetes

i have a ton of autonomy, i basically make my own schedule and im off by 3/330 every day. lunch hour is spent eating + gym which is 5 min away.
i would cry if they took away this privilege

I just want nice tailored dress garments at this point.

I know dressing down is more comfortable...but damn, I do notice...especially as a black man...when you wear a suit people treat you with ten times more respect.

women give you good looks, other men see you and give you that nod of respect, kids think you're important. Shyt, I remember I came back from work one day to grab a coolata from dunkin donuts and four cops were coming in the door as I was walking out and they held the door for me.
