CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports walk-year QB Drew Brees is looking for a four-year, $100 million deal.

La Canfora adds the two sides "have started chatting again" over the last week and are expected to make a "final push" before Brees' Week 1 deadline. While Brees is certainly worth $25 million per year right now, the Saints might balk at giving a 37-year-old quarterback a four-year deal. It would still be shocking if Brees left New Orleans, but a contract might not get done this week.

This is a precautionary tale as to why when your QB get's to be 36 or older you better have a guy who you think can at least be a real starter behind him otherwise

Saints got two option...

1. Pay Breesus and go 6 - 10 or 7 - 9 every year with a QB taking up 25% and more of the salary cap...

2. Not pay Breesus and go 3 - 13 or 4 - 12 and hope they don't go back to the aints days...which they will if they don't find a QB...

They are fukked either way...

hes 37 has only missed 3 games in the past 12 years, receivers and rbs and olinemen have come and gone. But brees still gets you 4,500-5000 yards 30-40 tds a year.
