well no shyt...who the hell is drinking damn 6 cups!...well depends on how they're defining a cup, true cup - 8oz, the standard for a cup of coffee - 4oz, or what's usually served as the smallest size in chain stores - 12oz.

either way, people who have that level of caffeine addiction or need that level of stimulation need to address a lot more than their coffee consumption

Is that really true? The coffee addicts I know drink a lot more than one cup a day. I don't know anyone who drinks multiple cokes a day or even one unless you're talking about kids.

What???
I dont know anyone who drinks many sodas a day but know many who drink 2-3 coffees a day.
You need to change yo circle of friends breh.

Are you from the south?

plenty of people - adults - drinking multiple and/or large (think those 32oz gas station cups) servings of soda daily. it's one of the reasons some cities have levied taxes on sugary drinks, how big of an issue they are alone to so many people's health. a google search alone will show thousands of personal stories of people who started their fitness journey by only dropping soda from their diet at first and they lost 8-15lbs in a month, that is a serious caloric (all sugar) overload if you can drop that just off of removing soda - not altering the rest of your diet, low carbing, exercising, etc - just dropping soda to start.

:stopitslime: I've seen studies throughout the years that first say coffee intake is bad, then its not, then its bad, then its not. Now we're back to bad.

fukk it. I love coffee, and you only live once.

P.S.My blood pressure is great

The same study, and tons of others, acknowledge that there are lots of benefits to drinking coffee regularly....just not in excess.

My grandmother in 76 years old and drinks damn near a bottle of coke a day. Been doing it since her 20s. She gets ill if she goes through several days w/o it. She can tell the difference btwn low caffeinated cokes

Yeah I'm defensive because I'm sure I've done it in excess countless times. Mindlessly. At my job I probably drink too much damn coffee throughout the day. :picard: it's like a habit at this point for me that I actually try to cut back now.

Isn't there caffeine in Coke? Why call out coffee when most people only drink one cup a day, yet those who drink soda do it throughout the day.
Using coffee is a better way to measure caffeine because there aren't any other additives involved. Also a cup of coffee has 4x as much caffeine as a can of soda, so it's safe to say coffee is the main source of caffeine for most people.

In regards to the article, caffeine's effect on blood pressure is unknown really. Instead, the article should have highlighted caffeine's effect on heart rate.

You should visit with a cardiologist to find out the culprit.
