I go to school 400 miles away from home and not having my car up here with me is hurting. I drive a 03 Honda civic but my uncle says I probably have A frame damage whatever that even means. I'm getting like 30mpg on it and its got about 160,000 miles. Is A frame damage serious? Should I take the chance of driving up here and basically commuting back and fourth about once every two months?

I need my car brehs. Asking freshmen for rides ain't cool. :sadbron:

Yes.
You left out some details. What happened? Rear-ender, front-ender, side-swipe.
Where is the frame damage?

Well, depending on the damage, you might be safe and you might get into a major accident causing death and or serious injury to yourself. Why? Cracked welds in the frame can break apart from stress. Bends in the frame can be straightened out, but now your car is no longer as safe as it was before. If you happen to get into an accident, no fault of your own, the frame of the car may not be able to absorb the impact as designed and the other vehicle may enter the passenger cabin, i.e. game over bro.

A bent frame can cause unpredicatable driving if you perform an evasive maneuver, like steering hard to avoid something in the road or breaking hard. The geometry of the wheels may have been altered by the bent frame. Steering at slow speeds is doable but misalignment may cause unexpected oversteer or understeer during evasive action. You may lose control of the vehicle: i.e. spin-out, roll-over, unable to counter-steer in time.

My bumper on my old car dropped on the highway.

I had gotten into an accident but i didnt see any damage.

I got all the info and reported but like i said dint see anything.

Driving home from work kept hearing a rattling sound made nothing of it. I was like imma check it out when i get home. Next thing u know my bumper was dragging on the road :snoop:

Car was total due to frame damage.

I got it used so I'm not sure of exact details but I did a carfax for fun and it said it was in an accident and I can kinda see where the passenger side had some damage.

Since this doesnt sound like something that can be restored I might just get a new one. I just dont want another bill. Since my roommate doesnt drive and we live down the street from each other in our hometown I know that 9/10 she'd be riding with me. She seems like the type to sue so I'm not taking any chances.

Yo op first you have a unibody car there is no frame on a 03 honda .Also if you can drive city miles with no problems it should not be a issue long distance wise.

The frame or structure of the car is stamped into the sheet metal of a unibody car. In accidents, these pieces absorb impact and get crushed/bent and need to be replaced. Or in some cases, the car is totaled and beyond repair.

Some of the major pieces can be cut out and a replacement piece can be welded in. This would be done by professionals with the appropriate equipment.
