It's weird that Caribbean slang hasn't been in Drake music earlier. From what I've heard Toronto is similar to London in that slang and culture is heavily Caribbean influenced.
Facts.

Too many Jamaican dudes running the street life here to not have that type of influence.

Everyone in Toronto breaks in and out of patois.

Y'all not getting it. ....people who grew up around toronto ppl been talking like that for years. Drake use to never talk like that till of recent which tells you he didn't grow up around any black people in Toronto. HS just now starting to talk like that. Next year or two hell prolly switch it up to something else

Y'all forget, dude just started reppin Toronto hard in 2013. Dude wasn't even reppin the raptors hard until 2013 or so. He really got about his city during NWTS
