No album was better than DAMN. There's a reason if it was the consensus AOTY in all genres. But thanks for your subjective shyt take.
Was this the first time a rap album was the consensus AOTY according to end year lists?

Nah, it happened 3 times

Kanye in 2010
Kendrick in 2015
Kendrick in 2017

Other years had amazing rap albums as well, but it was never the best album of that year, always felt short compared to rnb, jazz, soul, funk, rock etc.

I see, but it makes sense. TPAB, DAMN and MBDTF are worthy of being ranked in a top 10 all time :yeshrug:

Absolutely. These aren't my favorite Kendrick / Kanye albums, but I don't think you can reasonably find a better album that these, when reviewing music objectively.

It's up there with Radiohead's OK Computer.

And thats pretty crazy considering 2017 was a poor year for rap, other than DAMN and 4:44. But at least it still gave us a goat album :wow:
