They use different radios. Sprint/Verizon use CDMA frequencies, T-Mobile/AT&T use GSM. So phones that work on AT&T/TMO won't work on Sprint/Verizon, vice versa.

The thing about AT&T/TMO though is you could root a CDMA phone to run on GSM waves and they'd let you use it on their network, they'll even take each others phones (ie: AT&T phone running on TMO). Sprint and Verizon don't take phones period so if you switching to Verizon you'll have to buy a new phone.

period????aw hell.

since the G2 is the nexus 5's closest relative, i'm thinking i'll just get one and root it to stock and get rid of all the vz bloatware i been hearing about. Not completely happy with the switch but i can't take AT&T's bs any longer.

Yeah they dont even take each others phones like AT&T and TMobile

The G2's good but Id hold off for about two weeks the G3 gets announced on the 27th and should be out a little after. Unless you don't care about that and just want a good phone on the cheap.

yeah thats basically my plan. i could care less about the new kid in town, i just want a phone with great functionality and battery life. since the g2 is basically the n5s big brother, it looks like the best phone for me. i can get over that carrier bloatware hump with a good rom.
