Nah, don't think it was cohesive with the record either. :yeshrug:

But you didn't like the Who Shot Ya beat? That's one of the go to freestyle beats right there one of my favorite beats ever. :ld:

Yeah I actually don't like the beat at all. I think the song is classic but I never cared for it

Drop A Gem might be the GOAT "You think its a fukkin game?" diss record. Who Shot Ya was more of a hot record than trying to test a nikka.

Subliminal is almost always incorrectly used when you're talking about diss songs. Drop A Gem On Em was not subliminal though. Everyone knew immediately that it was a Pac diss. Not saying a name does not equal subliminal.

Drop a Gem is in no way a "subliminal diss" everyone in Hip Hop knew exactly who the lyrics were aimed at....

NY emcee's were doing these "subliminals" but the ones on the receiving end of these songs knew exactly who they were talking about. It's the general public that didn't know there was beef going on.

Who shot ya....Biggie blacked on it.

Drop a Gem on em is just an immaculate song, but Who shot ya sounds like an apocalyptic end of the world clarion call. Diddy: "GET HIGH MAUFUKKAS....READY TO DIE MAUFUKKAS"

:salute:definitely.

I remember when Who Shot Ya exploded the summer of 95'. :whoo: It pretty much solidified him as the top emcee.

"You'll die slow but calm. Recognize my face, so there won't be no mistake.
So you know where to tell Jake, lame nikka, brave nikka, turn front page nikka"...:whew:

Drop A Gem was nasty though.

"I baptize, nikkas get wet, hit up your backside
your claptized and set straight, put on your head straight".

It's True, Who Shot Ya made Biggie the King of NYC and that's what gave him the Crown.

What's funny is the votes show that all these years later Drop a Gem was certainly the iller diss record tho...

Exactly. What you're describing is a subliminal. Like Ra was throwing shots at Big daddy Kane.
