Eastside of that Motor
Cacs buying all the real estate up downtown. Pretty soon we ain't gonna be able to live there. :sadbron:

But for real though, I was born in 1990 so I've never known Detroit to be anything but what it is not. But the stories my father and grandmother tell me about how the city used to be :gladbron:

:childplease:

first of all, why would you post up a cheap ass video featuring a bunch of non rappin' ass nikkas driving around in old ass cars that don't belong to them as proof that ya'll are getting it? second of all, i have worked on and directed countless music videos, and 99% of them are COMPLETELY contrary to how the artist(s) are really living. they drive bentleys on the set, pull up to multi million dollar mansions, have bad hoes waiting on them, flossing thousands of dollars in diamonds. but when the director yells CUT, they leave all that shyt to drive away in their geo metro hatchback to go home to their ugly ass baby mama thats waiting for him at her raggedy ass apartment in the hood. these nikkas in that terrible video that you posted are no different.

:ohhh: you must be retarded...:russ::laff::dead:

:wow:

:why:

yeah the hipsters takin over. i cant even be mad tho, as long as the city come back, which it is, it'll just be different from the black mecca it once was, same as the gentrification goin on in NY. we can thank all our corrupt and failure city council members, mayors, police, etc for ruining the city to the point where we got synder all up in our buisness appointing emergency managers and shyt

Illitch and Gilbert is really trying to take over the city. I applaud them for trying to make Detroit a force again, but I wish I could see some black faces doing it

Isn't Magic Johnson involved w Gilbert on bringing Detroit back?

And yes, white people will gentrify detroit in the next decade.

Black folk aint trying to come back and pay those ridiculous tax liens just to buy those gutted and stripped houses so they can sit on the property. We just don't have money like that.

It would take someone with a fortune who cares more about maintaining a black owned presence in the city rather than their short/mid-term bottom dollar for that to happen. So we already know it won't.

I accept that....i just dont like nikkas trying to go in on my city as if its some monolith for suffering and bad shyt. Detroit got a lot of good things and good people, and as was stated earlier did more for black folks than most of the country will admit.

I go in for Detroit, this city is my blood and it ain't perfect i know that. But the energy here, the people, the women :noah: the atmosphere i wouldn't trade it for anything. Gentrification or not...the soul of Detroit will survive as long as its people maintain that attitude of "nothing scares us, nothing stops us"

Can't fault people though. They stay in Detroit out of loyalty, but get nothing but their houses broken into and cars put on blocks overnight. They see their property values drop and their neighbors move one by one.

At a certain point, these people need to live for themselves and their families and lack of city services in Detroit is a huge hindrance.

I can't even fault them for moving to better suburbs.
