Cant trade monroe for pick. He is a FA. Draft is before FA, so its not possible. Pistons probably have cash to buy a late 1st rd pick though.

Am I the only one who still thinks Jennings is salvageable? At one point this season Cheeks had him playing at a high level. Everyone else was floundering under cheeks but he was the only one that seemed to be showing some improvement. Maybe SVG can straighten him out. He made Jameer Nelson seem like a legit starting pg and Jennings problem has never been talent. His problem is between his ears. Still only 24. He is a bad defensive player, but the whole team was a joke on defense, SVG wont tolerate the same defensive effort as last year. Fundamentally they should be significantly better defensive team. And unlike Smith his contract is not that bad. If not starting pg, maybe let him play a jamal crawford role off bench.

What's your take on these trade ideas?

Brandon Jennings to the Knicks for Felton and JR(both have player options for the 2015-2016 season)

Josh Smith to the Kings for Jason Thompson(gets paid around 6 mil, deal expires in 2017); Derick Williams(gets paid 6 mil, deal expires next season), and Travis Outlaw(gets paid 3 mil and deal expires next season)

JR's shot selection is just as bad if not worst than Jennings, Felton is gargabe.

Derick Williams is solid, wouldn't mind him on the squad. I didn't know Outlaw was still in the league :flabbynsick:

Jeff Bower has reportedly been hired in Detroit. (USATSI)

It's not often someone goes from coaching a 12-19 MAAC team to becoming an NBA general manager, but that appears to be the case with Marist coach Jeff Bower.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, new Detroit Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy is close to hiring Bower as the team's GM.

Bower is a longtime NBA guy, spending 15 years in the Charlotte/New Orleans Hornets organization. During that time, he held the position of general manager, head coach, scout and pretty much everything else in the front office.

He was hired at Marist last spring, replacing Chuck Martin.

Under Van Gundy who also works as President of Basketball Operations for Detroit, Bower will handle the day-to-day managmeent functions of the team and likely spearhead the negotiations with free agents and rookies, as well as helping to manage both scouting and analytics departments.

Van Gundy had also reportedly been considering former NBA President of Basketball Operations Stu Jackson and his former GM in Orlando, Otis Smith. Bower helped build a powerhouse in a small market in New Orleans, but struggled to maintain it after the 2008 season, as spending limitations due to ownership broke up the successful 2008 team. Bower took over as interim coach in 2009 after the firing of Byron Scott. He left the team at the end of that season, after which Monty Williams and Dell Demps were hired.
