Monroe is only valuable at the right price. Breaking the bank for him will only limit what the team can do going forward, especially when Drummond's due a new deal in a couple years. They haven't broken the 8th seed in 4 years with dude and the conference has been weak at the bottom the whole time. You think that giving him the max is going to somehow magically change that? Just because other teams are willing to be dumb doesn't mean you should follow suit.

Move Smith and BJ; get a decent pg, and sign a 3&D SF. Assuming you do those things, Detroit can be a very good/great team if you keep the Monroe/Drum front court and Drum keeps progressing like expected.

Hopefully the org will have direction now with Stan Van in place. I was about just getting rid of Smith if they can get rid of both . With these two big guys you need guys on the perimeter that will get the ball to them AND that can take pressure off of them by making 3s. Not having that draft pick really hurts because you were all but guaranteed a shooter (Stouskas, McDermott) in that 8 spot . Hopefully they can unload Smith at the very least and get some shooters in FA.

Yeah that is a dream. If Drummond keeps progressing and even comes to reaching his potential and Monroe settles into his role they can give teams fits inside for the next decade. I'll take that.
