You couldn’t make this up.

To be fair, there are an equal number of thumbs down to the thumbs up. But that’s the problem. It’s hard to find black women who appreciates self-deprecating humor when they’re the butt of the joke.

And yes, I get it that it’s hard to do considering the history of how society has treated them over the centuries and still today. But that’s why it’s like a minefield using them for humor. You feel like anything you say will trigger a trauma bomb.

That’s one of the main reasons I got with my fiancée. She’s like a damn unicorn when it comes to her sense of humor. And I’m not talking that dumb “I’ll act goofy because I have no real personality.” She’ll laugh at herself and not take anything to heart.
