Stand up comedy is a different beast. Them old comics was doing so many shows to refine their craft. The top dogs said they still do some free impromptu shows to refine their comedy bits. I don’t feel like these new comedians do a lot of stand up gigs because the online money is good.

Standup is for the pros. IG/YouTube skit comedy can't prepare somebody for that.
Difference is they was probably getting 50$ or maybe even having to pay to get on stage. Druski probably getting offered 3K or something more ridiculous to do a show. Harder to turn those offers down just because your not ready
Problem is,you dont get the chance to be trash. Because your already known for being funny on line. So people expect that tk translate in real life immediately. So in reality its a lose lose situation. You can turn down the money until you get ready. But how can you get ready when your expected to be funny off rip. Which probably almost no standup is.

They say it takes 10 years JUST to be recognized as a real stand up lol. And that's only the beginning, you still got a lot of work to do. Unless you are one of the GOATs like Dave or Eddie.
These IG comedians have no idea how hard it is to stand up there with just a mic and tell stories that are funny.

Godfrey been in the game since the 90s and basically does a new hour every time he gets on. He can do 6 one hour shows in a weekend, all unique. Those cats in NYC can do 3-4 shows in one night and really sharpen their sets.

Yeah, Godfrey come from the old school model. He is a pure comic.You have to get them reps in as a comic.
Also, another thing hurting comedy is censorship. There’s a lot of stiff Druski can’t say because his money relies on corporations. Them internet comedians hands are tied. An old school comedian knows they will always have the comedy circuit if they’re cancelled by media for a joke.

If your goal is to really be a respected comic, you gotta turn down the money and rely on your IG money and live appearances at events until you hone your skills at underground clubs. He has no business being a headliner, he needs to open up for real comics. 5 mins tops. I saw Druski in a commercial recently so I know he ain't hurting for money. He probably doesn't care about the art form and just chasing the bag while he's hot. He should go the actor route tbh.

that's how you earn your stripes and master the craft. Every comic goes through that.You are missing one key thing. Folks aren't paying to see Druski as the opener at a small show. Folks can clown, cool. As a headliner selling 3.5K tickets, you are suppose to be funny and give people a good show since they PAID to see you. Druski chasing the bag and giving a bad show is a guaranteed way to end his career once people stop buying his tickets after seeing the bad reviews online.
You can recover from people clowning you at open mics if you are really talented and keep at it. You cannot recover from being a terrible headliner, charging people to see you be unfunny.
