There is a very easy fix for dry skin in the winter: Drink more water.

People think that because they aren't sweating profusely, they aren't losing water. The fact of the matter is, you perspire CONSTANTLY so your body is always losing water.

Drink as much water in the winter as you do during the summer and you won't have to worry overmuch about dry skin.​

Also I heard hosing the problem areas with cold water helps

For example if you face or scalp has the dry problem wash it with cold water, and wash the rest of your body with whatever temperature you normally bathe/shower with.

Hot water can dry your skin so if possible avoid using hot water in the problem areas.

Im about as light skinned as it gets, but my native american/black genes make this shyt a nightmare for me. I lotion my entire body every day and when I wake up Im dry as hel.

Ex: Put Vaseline on while still wet from the shower.

Despite thermals, cords, a sweater, and my heaviest coat, I nearly froze to death waiting at an above-ground subway stop in boston today. There is a cold advisory in boston. Midwestern schools are closing to avoid exposure of kids' skin to this cold. Accuweather shows 16° for both boston and nyc, but boston's wind chill (or northern location?) makes the "real feel" temp 10 degrees lower than nyc's real feel. Am actually pleased to be back in Harlem!
