One of the problems with black music today is damn near everything we make has to be put under the umbrella "hiphop" label. It's possibly an explanation as to why genres such as R&B have effectively become extinct. I'm starting believe that yes this new wave of music should be characterized differently. For example with rock there's classic rock, psychedelic rock, grunge, punk rock, heavy metal. These genres are allowed to exist with varying degrees of popularity but they aren't necessarily stepping on the toes of the other.

Completely agree, I do not like them being part of the hip hop and rap genre, I don't care if they want to take their own brand and create a new genre but they got no rights thinking they are rappers, I'm a fan of lyrics and lyrics are a part of rap for the longest time, they can say raps changing all they want but that answer is not true given we have lupe Kendrick Nas 3stacks and more.
Been sayin this for the longest..let the young boys cook but dont call it hip hop and try to eat of a genre you clearly dont even respect enough to be honest about your intentions..old nikkas vs new nikkas is willie lynch shyt and a cheap way to evade critique..being under 25 as an argument to justifiably suck at something shows flaws in character .What are you going to use as an excuse at 26? "uuuh old nikkas won't let me act like a child with entitlement issues" his daddy yachty needs to take lil yachty on a camping trip and talk to the boy about life and manhood..
