YG's Def Jam debut is earning comparisons to The Chronic for its swerving synth-wheeze and good kid, m.A.A.d City for its cinematic elements (skits, storylines, rapped dialogues). Neither is far off, because here, the gritty, prodigiously horny rapper from Compton has blown the ceiling off his once limited-sounding style. [...] YG has made use of some of rap’s most commanding forces for an album as brave as it is fun."[66] David Jeffries of AllMusic said, "The album's secret weapon is DJ Mustard who offers numerous productions that are pop like Young Money and bottom-heavy with G-Funk as the blueprint. Think of 50 Cent's Get Rich or Die Tryin' delivered by an inspired rapper in a post-Nicki Minaj world and you're close to the thrill of this inspired debut."

the album was straight but im fukkin done :mjlol::mjlol::mjlol:

THIS.

fans like feeling like they connect and personally know artist on a level makes you want to support them more.

you watch drake, kendrick, rocky interviews...they tell you more about themselves than the avg 'street rapper' out

i know rocky was in homeless shelters with his mom when his dad was in jail for dealing drugs, i know his brother got shot and killed for extorting some guy when he was 13 and feels like the system trapped his brother. i know he sold drugs for a bit to get him mom out of the hood and moved her into a condo in jersey. i know hes pescetarian. i know his personal stance on various things.

i don't know much about yg other than...... he grew up in compton and gang bangs.

It's actually a dope concept album. Kinda like GKMC but the story is based on a actual compton street nikka with significantly inferior lyricism

my laptop broke. so i cant access itunes. so im stuck with not being able to add music to my ipod. and lawd knows i cant afford to buy it.
