I still run with large ported box in my trunk. My car is pretty well sound dampened from the factory with no rattles, and my box is tuned at a pretty low frequency so it's more like a subtle but heavy thump once you start getting kind of close to it. I just like heavy bass, i usually turn it down once I get into residential neighborhoods though.

I had an under the seat 8" sub in one of my cars back in the day because I needed the trunk space for job materials back in the day. I was pleasantly surprised by how well it worked.
