I really don't care about a ferpa law. Hanging a noose is a federal offense. Too many black students have been exposed on allegations and not convictions. But the university and police department which you claim are separate entities protect this fool even after he confessed. Roles reversed, the media would be knocking on his parents door asking for a statement.

Question to all the legal eagles out here. If it is a crime committed, albeit on school property, don't police have a right to release name as it would anyone else. So if I kill someone on campus while in school, I'm protected anonymity wise by ferpa?:what: I went to UMCP and it did not go down like that here. You commit a crime, let alone a federal one, your ass goin to the pokie and anyone can access your arrest. This sounds like some protect young cacs future shyt to me. There may be some brehs who benefit here and there but y'all crazy if you don't realize this bullshyt.

I'm not connecting it to this story - clearly saying that this institution gets treated differently. Lance Thomas and Corey Maggette's stories at any other school would equal vacated wins.

Okay, I understand your point of view.

I hear you on Corey Maggette, I didn't really get down deep into it but I believe Duke did all the due diligience they could do and Corey Maggette basically lied about alot of things that really you can't victimize Duke for. AT the end of the day, I don't believe Corey testified against Duke similiar to what Chris Webber did to Michigan.

Lance Thomas, I'm not sure how that is a Duke issue...

Same thing happened with Cal at UMass and at Memphis - he wasn't aware of any wrongdoing regarding Camby and with Rose he was told by the school that he was cleared to play.

I went to UMD as well.

Unless the student was charged with a crime, I dont think anything has to be reported. That happened at UMD too. Its why date rape is such a big issue, a lot of schools put it in the code of conduct process and not through law enforcement.

The article said it was going through the Student Conduct process.

But they release Jameis and countless other names over something as miniscule as crab legs, let alone alleged sexual assault.
Shhh. Let the cacs and c00ns expose themselves. Lets see all the posters defending this nonsense

"bu bu bu its the law!" - typical cac

Best believe white supremacy is a religion. They are protecting this white supremacist because they agree with him. Trust me, had he did some homophobic or sexist thing his name would have been exposed and he would have been publically shamed with the quickness.

Disgusting group of people white people can be....:smh:

You guys can't be serious. You're comparing two totally different situations and trying to connect them. The article you posted says nothing about Duke University speaking or releasing anyone's name. Some investigative journalists are the ones who broke the Lance Thomas story and it was because the jeweler took him to court, which is public record.

So again, you're comparing arrests and public court documents to a students rights as written in the FERPA handbook that a school HAS to abide by from a compliance issue.

But but but - he's black....but but but white privilege.

has nothing to do with either, but you're too ignorant to actually understand it. Ignorance allows you create controversy when there isn't any and you lessen real calls of injustice and white privilege when it actually happens because you don't know what you're talking about. Thanks for abusing and saturating real black american issues with your stupidity and lack of aptitude on the subject.

Are u white
