So Durant's NERD, his overall player contribution on the floor, was better than Westbrook and Harden's before he went to Golden State. In Game 1 vs. the Cavaliers, Durant shot a dizzying 38 points with no turnovers. The argument has been made that Curry opened space up for Durant's dunks, but only about 50% of Durant's points came from dunks. The rest of his game was just Durant being Durant respectively:
And so on. Everything considered, it's easy to understand how Golden State is beating the Cavs. Durant's transformational talent is blossoming, same as it did in college and in OKC. He is carrying the Golden State Warriors to the NBA Championship without getting the accolades for it. Some might say this is selfless of him to forgo personal glory for team glory, but this isn't war. It's basketball. Durant will win a NBA champion's trophy but it'll be made of tin because he didn't win it himself---when he very well could have with the right squad. He chooses to play second fiddle when Durant is the one leading the orchestra. Durant is a true servant to the game but he is a general wearing a private's vest.
