Dwayne Wade Cried After Learning He Was Prince's Favorite Player

If you watched the final Round 1 game between the Miami Heat and the Charlotte Hornets this weekend, you probably caught Dwayne Wade tearing up during the National Anthem. Wade’s emotional state wasn’t nerves for the game, however — it turns out that the 13 season NBA champ has just learned that he was Prince‘s favorite basketball player.

Wade took to Twitter last night to explain his waterworks, which were apparently triggered by listening to a recent radio interview with the late legendary musician.

its actually pretty amazing how stupid the media is, and how they took this story and completely twisted it around.

  • Wade is sweating before game 7, lifts his head, sweat falls down his face and looks like he might be crying.
  • post game, he clarifies that it was sweat and that he wasn't crying
  • media doesn't care, they run with the crying story anyway
  • THE NEXT DAY, someone on twitter tweets him a link from 2012 of Prince saying he was his favorite player. something that he had never heard until that day.
  • Wade states again in a tweet that he wasn't crying as people have reported. and while he appreciates all of his fans that hearing Prince say he was his favorite player was making him feel some emotions.
  • so not that he was crying the day before about a story he had never heard, but that right then and there while he was tweeting, he felt some emotions.
  • media takes that as Wade saying he cried the day before because prince said he was his favorite player :snoop:
