Football should be dead in a few decades. It's just to damaging to the brain to keep this shyt up and allow people to do this to themselves just for other people's entertainment.

I don't buy the "football causes ALS" story. Sure, MAYBE brain injuries (concussions) can accelerate how fast the disease progresses but after a quick Google search, I see a few former players trying to blame their careers for the disease. CTE? Sure...ALS? Nah...

Football is becoming a scapegoat.

In 2012, an article in the journal Neurology found that professional football players are four times more likely to die of ALS than the general population. That’s in keeping with other research that shows that football players who have endured concussive blows to the head are at a higher risk for a range of neurological disorders, including, potentially, ALS

Man, I thought the thread said Dwight Howard. Either way, extremely sad that Dwight Clark has it and there isn't a cure.

That 2012 study was pretty much inconclusive, and there was one done in the 1990's that tried to link football head injuries to ALS as well, but it didn't hold too much weight. I was reading about a study on soccer that was trying to link it as well, so is soccer going to die as well?

And, something like 8/10 or 9/10 cases of ALS have no definitive or known cause...........
