The LI
if my memory serves me correctly this was the year that they had the lock out and when they came back to play basketball the top 3 Eastern conference teams were the heat, the pacers & bulls
the magic played well & was thought they had just as good a chance to win the East
it only made sense to dwight to finish the year out in hoping to win a chip, in hindsight i dont think ORL was ever gonna go thru with the trade - like i said, they made a decision not to send him to the Nets
when the smoke cleared, the magic chose a much shytter deal A Afflalo, N Viciece a protected 1st rd & 2nd
over
B Lopez, M Brooks, (2) unprotected 1st rd picks {and mind u - CAR said they would take Lopez if ORL didn't want him & give the magic there overall 2nd pick that year draft

i know we’ll alway disagree on this
BUT
i just don't fault dwight - he had the entire city & media begging him to stay, unfortunately his commitment to playing the year out in chance of winning it all - was the worst pro basketball move he ever made

cause Melo, KD & currently Kawhi were far worst

Now that we agree on :handshake:

I'll just always feel that Dwight had the cards in his hands on that flight and he folded. I'll always hold that against him because what came after was 5 years of hell, for him and for the Nets. But we had Billy King so you right he woulda fukked it all up regardless :mjcry:

All that matters is we now have a GM who knows what he's doing, building a culture with youth and giving us cap flexibility to make runs at the coming FAs in 2019 and beyond. And who knows what else he's got up his sleeve tonight :mjlit:

Sources: Hornets trading Howard to Nets

Eight-time NBA All-StarDwight Howardtold ESPN Thursday that he wants a buyout of his $23.8 million expiring contract, and sources said that his new team, the Brooklyn Nets, is trying to make it work.

"I want to be in a situation where I have an opportunity to help a team win," Howard said in a phone interview. "That's my only goal. All I need is a real chance and a clean slate where it's not people talking about my past."

Both sides agreed to work together on securing a buyout for the 6-foot-11, 265-pounder in order for the 32-year-old to hit free-agency this summer, sources said. Howard will ultimately be one of the top free-agent big men on the market and contending teams will have interest.

Trade grades: Who wins Nets-Hornets Dwight Howard deal?
The Nets get Dwight Howard from Charlotte to help clear space for free agents in 2019. Kevin Pelton grades the trade.

On Wednesday, theCharlotte Hornets and Brooklyn agreed upon a trade that will send Howard to New York in exchange forTimofey Mozgov, two second-round picks and cash, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The trade won't become official until after the moratorium has concluded on July 6.

Howard said he was blindsided by the trade, a transaction that allowed Charlotte to distance itself from the tax line.

"I was just really in total shock because I wasn't expecting it to happen," he said. "I thought this season was really good. For one, this is the healthiest I've been and two, my stats this season has been one of the best since I've been in the NBA."

The three-time Defensive Player of the Year recipient has yet to communicate with Hornets' brass.

"Everything happens for a reason," Howard said. "I'm not going to allow this to distract me from what my goal is, which is to continue to get better as a player."

That tweet is gone now. But I’m assuming we’ll be back in the market to take on a salary dump to jump in the lotto. I want no part of Parsons even for #4...if Denver wants to move Faried I’d listen
