This is a really interesting point. Those comparing the two parenting approaches in 2022 would say Wade and Gabby are 'progressive' and 'liberating' while Magic and Cookie were 'repressive' and 'problematic', but based on Wade voicing concern about his child being a target, in hindsight, Magic and Cookie were protecting their son till he came of age and full understanding of how he wanted to represent himself in the world.

I feel bad for Zaya/Zion in the fact s/he is still a child with plenty of time to develop and could possibly go through a complete personality change, but the media coverage and parading his father and step-mother did for him kinda puts pressure on him to stick with this whole identity thing.
