2k is the of basketball games. If 2k chose not to continue making college basketball games, I highly doubt they'll do college football. They just didn't find it profitable enough.

College basketball isnt popular till March Madness where as football teams are routinely selling out 50,000-100,000 seat stadiums. I would believe the college football game could be successful and maybe the basketball game too if promoted and released during the tournament.

College Football games are useless without a NFL game to go with it, those games do not profit that much from what I've seen.

2K could make a game but I doubt it.

People, you think all the programmers who worked on those old 2K games when they had the NFL license were just sitting around these past few years doing nothing and waiting for them to get a football license again? Those people are gone and working for other companies now. Its like Rare and Microsoft. Sure Microsoft owns the Rare name but the people who made Donkey Kong Country, Killer Instinct, Conker, etc....are working elsewhere.
