Eagles proposed change to Detroit-Dallas Thanksgiving tradition

For decades, Detroit and Dallas have hosted Thanksgiving games each year. The Eagles attempted to change that, but they later withdrew their proposal.

The league confirmed today that the Eagles submitted a proposal for a change in the league resolutions that would have seen the Lions and Cowboys continue to play on Thanksgiving each year, but to play on the road every other year.

The text of the Eagles’ proposal read, “to continue the annual tradition of having Dallas and Detroit play on Thanksgiving, provided that one of those clubs host a home game with the other club playing away, and alternating home and away games each subsequent season.”

Honestly, as a Lions fan, I have no issues with this.

.

maybe i'm missing something.
what does this change and why do the eagles care? Those are home games but there is an alternating away game during the season anyway. Why does it matter if that specific week is an away game for at least one of the two teams :lupe:
From the Eagles perspective isn't it better if the Lions and Cowboys "waste" a home game earlier in the season thereby increasing the probability that there are addition away games during the stretch run? (I'm an eagles fan)

I guess other teams now get a chance to be home on Thanksgiving

As a fan of an afc team, the thanksgiving lineup is usually meaningless to me. I don’t care if Detroit and Dallas always play, and I don’t care if they always host—I just wish the matchups were always interconference.

Dallas and Detroit just needs to be removed from thasnksgiving until they become great teams again.

I would make those games matchups between NFC and AFC teams that would be great matchups.

Also, i would have 4 games across all major networks (espn/abc, fox, cbs & nbc) that carry nfl content.

so for example this year the matchups would be

Greenbay at Kansas City 11:45 AM - CBS

Dallas at New England 3:15PM - FOX

Houston at New Orleans 6:45PM - NBC

Steelers at 49ers 10:15PM - ESPN/ABC

came in thinking the Eagles wanted to switch and finally get the Lions off of national TV, until they deserve it.:francis:

I wish I could find that shyt Shannon Sharpe did when he was on CBS, fake crying about the lions always getting their asses kicked on Thanksgiving, shyt was classic,.
