My great grandfather was one of them, married a black Jamaican woman. I’m like a 16th Chinese or something like that (haven’t worked out the math) but because my great grandfather was on my father’s side the Asian last name stuck.

So my great grandson will barely have any Chinese in him but that damn Asian last name will still be there and still have everyone when they meet him lol

Man I got stories for days. When I was a kid I got injured while playing basketball. I’m in the hospital waiting room bleeding and my pops is trying to fill out the paperwork but the white receptionist is just staring at me the whole time like “ that’s your last name? But you’re black!” And I’m like “bytch, I’m bleeding!”

Recent story, started getting into screenwriting. Latest script deals with some heavy racial themes. I submitted it for feedback from a professional reader. At one point in the feedback the reader starts lecturing me about how the black characters talked and their usage of the N word. I’m wondering why they’re so fixated on it until I realized that all the reader saw was my name and was probably thinking “Why tf is this nerdy Asian kid trying to write about black people “
