Juan Ep fell off a long ass time ago now they doing interviews with dumb c*nts like T-Pain & Rhys Darby. :wtf: even when Combat Jack does a "non Hip Hop" interview, it links back somehow or they still do an interesting interview at the least.

I have to disagree with this. Not every episode is incredible but they are dropping more episodes than they ever did so your not always going to like the guest but they are usually still entertaining. The Steve Lobel and Kool G Rap episodes recently were great and even though I don't fukk with T-Pain's music he was funny as shyt

Yea but he cant snake nikkas though. Game is too transparent now. Paperwork gotta be right.

But 1 man can't do everything. Every rap superstar has had a whole team behind them. So we need more Irv Gottis and Puffs and nikkas like that to find and cultivate talent.

Word im outchea :takedat:

LOL, but as far as the interview, dope shyt. I personally dont feel NY is anywhere close to "coming back" but im glad to see that ebro and the ogs of the town seem to understand what it takes and are slightly pushing the town to the right path.

Ive been saying this, the nikka to bring NY back aint gonna be some super duper lyrical miracle type nikka. Its gonna be someone along the lines of BIG, Mase, Max B, Stack etc.

A nikka with Charm, Charisma, sex appeal and a good ear for music.

Exactly. At the end of the day, it's still music. It's still entertainment.

Has anyone ever been contacted by Neilson folks to participate in a survey?
I don't recall any media outlet that I watch promoting where to take part in a media survey that affected them?

I never heard anyone discuss their participation in the neilsons survey regardless of color

Ebro mention the black radio struggles, but again, I've never heard the white radio stations promoting to their audience about participating in the neilsons, so criticizing folks for not participating, while ignoring the lack of promotion to encourage participation, is being intellectual dishonest. This reeks of Ebro and many folks comfort of solely blaming black folks for their problems

He hit on a lot of shyt we talked about
  • No stars out of NY
  • No "hip hop spots" like the Tunnel, the Rooftop etc
  • No art scene/creative community/vibe
  • No connection with women (I.e. no crossover appeal)
  • No focus on entertainment ("Imma keep it real shun")
U look at a nikka like Biggie (or Bigga... wish I still had that smiley)...they had something for everybody, but still maintained their credibility. There is nobody out of NY like that. Jay makes hipster college professor museum curator art collector rap. Nicki Minaj makes teenage girl/West 4th St fakkit rap. We need somebody who reaches everybody. I was gonna make a thread saying the coffin in NY's rap scene was Max's jail sentence and Stack's death but I feel like nikkas would feel some kind of way. But we need stars. And we need the support system to take the nikkas with talent and groom them. Its a real sttructural problem. Ebro dropped a lot of knowledge
:stopitslime: I'm not even from NY and this sounds like generic BS
You claim there's no stars in NY and no focus on entertainment but then continue to try to discredit Jay z and Minaj
You also not factoring gentrification and how it impact hip hop scene
I'm sure there are lots of art scene/creative community vibes [I get that from watching Black Ink]

Jay and Nicki are old breh. French is an old nikka too. Where are NY's young stars? Aside from French and Nicki NY hasn't produced any new big rappers since 50 Cent :stopitslime:

And I lived in NY. There is an art scene. But it's very separate from the rap scene.

The shyt Ebro mentioned is all real. If you were from NY you would know this

They old but are still on top of the game. You making it seem like the south elites are young, nikkas in their 30s, pushing 40
Ebro is full of shyt on that neilson survey chatter. How many hot97 loyal listeners know about neilson ratings and or been contacted by them
If you not promoting shyt, then how are the average folk going to know about it?

NY like any other big city has artsy/creative spot that claim to represent hiphop...I stress that claims to represent hop hop because mawfackas have flipped and remixed the meaning of hip hop that is molded into whatever the local scene claims it to be

Different strokes for different folks I guess...cause I give less than zero fukks about Rosenbergs fukking wife and assorted other suburban cac musings, nor Cipha's whole "I found a way to give my life some sense of fulfilment after years of therapy via a struggle improv-comedy career" sh!t

Last podcast from I listened to from them was with Bun B...I wanted to hear some indepth never heard before stories about Rap-A-Lot stories or something...instead they're talking to Rosenberg's wife on the phone about some audition she went to :beli:
Yeah that Bun B episode had me disappointed as well. I enjoy hearing them shoot the shyt but there's too much of UGK's career that I'd love to hear stories about. Like the Biggie story.

There arent even young NY nikkas waiting in the wing tho. What happens when Jay turns 60, 70... who is going to take the torch? In the South there are plenty of dudes ready to take it and the OGs are more than willing to hand it off. Meanwhile Jay and Nicki basically don't even WORK with NY artists. Jay's last song with another NY rapper was 'Star Is Born' :beli:

Im sure there are rules and regulations to the shyt. I.e. Ebro can't use the station to contact listeners for ratings.

And what spot is that?

Respect to Ebro for dropping knowledge. Only thing I struggle with is...anytime I listen to Hot 97, I don't hear the B.I.C., Joey Badass, Action, I've heard Bogedga Bamz a lil.

Back in the day, DJ's and radio stations helped break artists. And yeah they doing the battle of the beats but c'mon...put the upcoming cats in rotation!
