Remember, during the Crunk Era, there was none of this stunting. No designer. No flexing. Just everyman fun.

The trappers brought in all this unaffordable bullshyt.

Gucci Mane, everyone. Everyone that followed him been on that fukkery ignorance wave. Even Jeezy was cool with broke heads wilding out with his lyrics in the club from 04-08. Gucci Mane got signed to a major in 09 and went after Jay-Z and Nas, while flashing all that money and promoting mumble rap.

When they started crashing out on the regular word to that boy Kay Flock

I feel they had stopped signing them in the “blog era” looking more so for the every man 20 something year old clean cut lifestyle rapper

Chief Keef blowing up virally changed a lot of shyt :wow:

Keef killed the entire momentum of the "Everyday Man" raps that early Drake, J. Cole, Kendrick had that jumpstarted their careers. Everyone else in their lane basically were starving again after Keef blew up late 2012. If Keef and Drill music never blew up, rap would be in a much better position quality control wise.

Uh....no I didn't. I'm not sure who you have me confused with but I said people need to discuss why. Never gave my opinion on why either way.

And I'm not sure how the stat isn't convincing....when it's the stat. It's like saying 2+2 = 4 isn't convincing. What does that even mean?

We went 7 months with no rap albums at #1, and are currently damn near 9 months with no #1 rap song. Who needs to be convinced, and what am I convincing them of? The numbers speak for themselves.

Fred.

It means that labels are truly done with rap as a whole. If the 50th Anniversary push cannot stimulate sales, then 2024 onward the outlook is very bleak. :francis:

The whole Mass Appeal Hip Hop 50th feels more or less like a 'Goodbye' rather than a celebration.

Tired of listening to multiple n words, graphic descriptions of how you'll kill another Black man, crass materialism, degrading of Black women, incoherent mumble babble, glorification of hard drug use, and proudful ignorance.

Rap should of died like 15 years ago if we're being honest shyt is played out people wanna vibe and dance and feel good. Latin music(for th most part cause they have their ghetto shyt too) and Afrobeats provide that feeling.Music is suppose to make you feel good not run down on opps.

Go to a rap concert that shyt isn't even music just a mf with 20 other mf'ers on stage with his pants hanging off his ass walking around high and/or drunk af with his vocals playing in the back.

Super trash

That was already in place in a good way( dance and feel good) until labels/powers that be interfered.

Thats why i said Kendrick can drop a album every 2 years and win 4 grammys cause the competition is trash

Nas winning awards in his late 40s because these youngsters are autotune, opp killing clowns
The fact Drake stopped submitting to the Grammys was a big tell. This shyt is over.

What do you think Latin and African artists are rapping about? It’s the literally the same content. They even dress like rappers.

This is strictly about being able to exploit bigger markets.
This. All them Nigerian afrobeats artists from the six, their lyrics be sliding on opps more than US rappers

Uninspired and boring.

It's concerning how dominate Drake/Kendrick/Cole has been over the past 10 years or so. There's been no new artists to rise to stardom and take their spot.

It's the labels to blame too cause there's a lot of dope new rappers that were clearly never pushed because they're not corny
