Ebro is just saying some rappers are heavy simile rappers than others y'all.. nothing to see here.

I admit, it took me a minute to get into Nas material becuz I was heavy into Red and Keith.. Nas approach was not like theirs..

...and here's why that logic is flawed:

If you're a rapper, you're writing lyrics. As such, you are a "lyricist".
Just because your "approach" isn't the same as other "lyricists" doesn't mean you aren't one.
And, it also doesn't make you not a "lyricist" because you (arguably) might not be as good as another one.

Case in point - you bringing up Red and Keith.
P didn't like their "approach", does that mean P wasn't a "lyricist"?

The only real word play that I can recall L using was poor/po'/o-r and bevis/nuthin but head. Lines like jewels get run like red lights aren't wordplay to me.

Edit: maybe I should have said punchlines aren't automatically word play.

nope, not at all..P was..Nas and P approach to hip hop lyrics is basically the same way. No similes, play on words at a minimal. Just well constructed rhymes.

I just agree with one aspect of what Ebro said that I THINK I know what he meant. But, if its posed your way, then I agree with you
