Wild to think it’s been two decades. Eddie was one of those guys who could pull you in no matter what he was doing — comedy, drama, pure swagger, whatever. He didn’t just wrestle; he connected. Every time.
There was nobody smoother in the ring. Nobody with better timing. Nobody who could lie, cheat, and steal his way into your heart and make you cheer for him anyway. Eddie made it look easy — even though the man fought through more in his life than most of us ever knew at the time.
His stuff with Brock, Kurt, Rey, JBL — those weren’t just good matches, those were moments. And that win over Brock at No Way Out 2004? One of the greatest feel-good pops the company has ever had. Still gives me chills.
What hurts is knowing we only got a piece of what he could’ve done. There’s always that rumored HBK vs. Eddie match people said WWE wanted to do. Can you imagine how that would’ve gone? Instant classic.
He should still be here — chilling with a HOF ring on, watching the new faces of the industry. And I know he’d be proud as hell. Proud of Rey, Cena, Batista, Punk… and proud of Seth, Sasha, Bayley, and Dom too.
And the crazy part is, 20 years later, the influence is still right there on TV. On Raw this week, Dominik hit the classic Eddie chair spot — laid out on the mat like he’d taken the hit. Then Cena laid down too and hit him with a little wink like, “I learned from Eddie too, kid.”
If anything sums Eddie up, it’s that: wrestlers are still paying tribute to him, crowds still pop for him, and fans still get that warm feeling every time his name comes up.
Rest in peace, Eddie. Viva La Raza.

I ain’t gonna lie to you, though… Almost somethin’ I might’ve done.
But you still shouldn’t have done that, vato!
That’s your father, man or so they say!”
?" I checked out then and while I check in every so often and keep up with the blacks I can never be the hard-core fan I once was and it all started with Eddie's death.
