Most stand up comedians are late bloomers. Most of the hit movies that Pryor made were when he was almost 40. Redd Foxx was almost 50 by the time he crossed over. Dave was 30. Bernie was 40 etc etc. Eddie was a exception in that he was a household name by the time he was 21 and should be treated as such.

Dave Chappelle started at 14, Chris Rock was like 18. Redd Foxx was over 50 years old still doing standup in Vegas post Sanford and Son. Every single person you named was still doing standup after they made it and none of them needed to do it financially.

not gonna watch the vid, but it's confirmed that tk kirkland stole eddie's watch while attending a party at his house and that charlie murphy stomped a mudhole in his ass.

these are facts

how is tk going to be objective when discussing eddie murphy?
It wasn't Eddie's watch it was Charlie's

None of them blew up at those ages tho. Chris Rock went on SNL and flopped and made shytty movies. Chappelle was a well known comedian in his 20s, but he was on flopped sitcoms and played bit parts in movies. None of them were THE box office draw in hit movies. None of them brothas was anywhere near the world wide star that Eddie was at his peak. In the 80s it was Tyson, Eddie, Prince, MJ, and Madonna.... No one else was near them. Its hard to go back to stand up when you one of the biggest stars in America for like a decade. He did Raw and dipped.

Eddie was bankable as a movie star and didn't need to stay on stage. His role in Dreamgirls (James "Thunder" Early) probably should have gotten him an Oscar. Not many comedians can say that they have that level of acting ability. Eddie's only issue is choosing bad projects at times. When he picks a good role and does his thing.....his acting isn't far off from his peak stand-up skills. One of the rare brehs that could do both sketch and stand-up to great effect.

Seinfeld did it, Martin did it, plenty of the Wayans do it. You think Damon Jr needed to do standup to get into acting? There are plenty of people who do stand up because they love stand up. Not because they have to do it or they are broke they just have a love for the art and they missed it.

I don't believe Eddie loved stand up. Why other reason would you not have for doing it?

Again. Eddie cant compared to anyone in his lane just like MJ can't because no one has ever reached their levels. The Wayans and Martin were very successful but never reached the status that had. Seinfeld was huge but he never appealed to everybody young old black and white or had classic blockbuster movies like Eddie. (does Seinfeld have a legendary stand up special?)

When you speaking to whether he loved it or not, thats motivations and i dont think anyone can address that except the man himself.

Jim Carrey, and Chris Tucker just off the top of my head.

Chris Tucker isn't no legend on any level, stand up, films, tv etc. He had a hot run and that's it. And Chris is still doing standup cuz Uncle Sam came calling about them taxes.

I've never met or heard of anyone being inspiried by Jim's stand up, ever. Anybody mentions Jim Carrey it's in regard to a tv or movie role.

Again. Eddie cant compared to anyone
Richard Pryor was Eddie Murphy before Eddie Murphy

White people and black people loved Pryor...

The movie Stir Crazy made 100million at the box office... that's huge for a black star in 1980

Why can't Eddie be compared to anyone? What was so groundbreaking and unique that he is exempt from being compared to any other comedian before or after? Name one FIRST Eddie Murphy did that prevents him from comparisons to comedians before or after him?

You are creating unnecessary points to distort my original point which is if Eddie loved stand up he'd be doing it right now. People have been demanding he do it for the longest. If he wanted to do it he'd do it. Other legends have gone back to the stage as well so there is no real excuse other than he lost his funny and he knows it.

Him and Eddie squashed that along time ago and Tk personally apologized to him

:sas2:

And what makes you think Tk is discussing him negatively?
:what:
I didn't hear him say nothing bad about him

Stop it slime :stopitslime:

Eddie Murphy only did stand up for two weeks? Yet Raw is the funniest comedy special of the 80's. If that's the case then Eddie was too good to be a comedian
