Thought I posted in here. Enjoyed it, but not as much as Beau or Midsommar. It really did capture that whole 2020 covid period and how folk just lost their minds.

Should have moved the release date.. hell I think this would have done better in March.

Saw it last night, thought it was spectacular. Felt like it perfectly nailed not just the covid era but what came afterward. The paranoia, the way people's minds get destroyed going down a rabbit hole of extremism that's one click away. I've seen people crying about the BLM stuff but I thought it was perfect. So much of the activism we saw was driven by public perception and social currency. The way people, especially white people, morph from one movement to another based entirely on what they want - whether it's to impress a cute chick or gain attention or whatever else.

I agree that the second half felt VERY Coen-esque. Didn't know Aster had those action chops but he nailed it. I also sensed a heavy PTA influence, especially with the homeless man.

This feels like a definitive film of our era. The only other film I can think of that gave me that same feeling was First Reformed, in terms of just nailing what's going on right now.

:wow:

I was cracking up in the theater at that shyt too

But yeah I could definitely see this being one of the 2020s definitive flicks.

fictional town of Eddington in the movie "Eddington" was filmed in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico (Yes, that is a Keifer Sutherland movie). The production also utilized locations in and around Albuquerque and Santa Fe County, also in New Mexico.
Specifically, filming took place in the 200 and 300 blocks of Broadway in Truth or Consequences. The former BBQ on Broadway location was transformed into the Sevilla County Sheriff's office. Other businesses in town, like Giddy Up Cafe and Galactic Digs, were also used for filming, becoming Paula's Cafe and Vacuum Sales & Service, respectively. The former El Rio Video building became "GUNTHERS," a fictional gun and knife shop.

I've never seen Truth or Consequences NM.

Hour in i can't, bunch of storylines that are neither thoughtful, engaging, interesting, or intriguing.

Not even for the great state of New Mexico!

A white cop who trying to do good pushed to the edge, when the goverment, BLM, latinos and his wife mess with him.

BLM and Covid was made out to be big joke in this movie...meanwhile the right wing CACS were painted as being good citizens however not the one white girl who keeps trying to tell the black officer that racism is real....probably the most blatant right wing movie i have seen in a long time....Ari Aster tries act like he balanced but he spends WAYYY more time shytting on one side then he does the other....I would have liked it more for Pedro Pascal to have been the lead and seen it from his point of view.

Fukk Ari Aster and this bullshyt :camby:

You really missed the mark if you think this was about a white cop "trying to do good" before being "pushed to the edge."

You somehow perceived BLM & COVID to “being a joke” in this movie. Clearly you did.

It constantly portrays how "insane" the mask mandate was but never shows the impact of COVID other then Joaquin coughing a little near the end. Hell, It starts out with him being in his car alone and being forced to wear a mask by the local police, then in next scene he goes to the bar and a guy freaking out because a homeless man dont have a mask on and thats all in the first 10 mins of the movie.

He made the 2 white people as the speakers for the BLM protests, while the film’s only Black character has no political opinions or personality. Police brutality is downplayed as we see with the video of the homeless and Joaquin from the bar being taking out of context. The protesters are portrayed as posers/opportunist or who don’t actually care about the cause and are only there to steal and riot.

Meanwhile, MAGA is completely absent from the story....Trump and MAGA are only mentioned in passing during the leadup to the 2020 election :mindblown:

Did yall even see the movie?

You even described it like this:
I couldn't help but feel like Joe's fate was a cross between Travis Bickle and Richard Dreyfuss' character in What About Bob? :mjlol:

Breh was stacking up L after L and was cucked so many times as a man by the end :pachaha:
