I see a lot of folks against getting one, but what's actually the problem with it? :patrice:

If it came down to me and some random for a job, I'd rather be the one with a MBA who did great in school than the one competing against the guy with a MBA who did great in school:manny:

If you don't wanna get into the corporate world I could understand it being pointless. But I'm pretty sure most huge companies would hire a guy with a MBA from a good school first.

Honestly, MBAs are more for networking than the actual curriculum. Most of the people I know in top schools spend half the of the program in happy hours/getting to know fellow grads.

I never said people shouldn't go to college. But getting a Masters or Phd degree is a waste of time and just not worth it in my opinion. If your company will pay for it then by all means even though you are spending another 2-4 years of the prime years of your life on schooling.

Says the person who likely does not have a Masters or a PhD

I've been seeing a lot of Masters in Business Analytics degree programs. I'm a CS guy, I love programming and math so the whole data science angle to business appeal's to me.

Any one have any insight to programs like that?

Like this Home - Master of Business Analytics | MIT Sloan School of Management

I am personally afraid of Data Science due to the programming involved. I am very good at Math and learning math but programming was never my thing. Data Scientist make a lot of money.

a data science makes about 113,436 and I am sure bonuses make it even higher :wow:.

incredibly costly with little return on investment on this day and age with most schools.

If it's a top business school...go for it (Wharton, Harvard, Columbia, U Mich etc etc)

If you're sponsored by your job to get one--go for it.

I think one major problem is that people get them without any real work experience rendering it utterly useless. It's really a degree for those with 5+ years of management expericne. But you have tons of graduates getting them directly after a bachelors degree.

this is my biggest gripe with grad school. I have been out of college for over 10 years. and I've been working the entire time. a bachelor's and experience has been working just fine for me for years now. I'm not gonna drop 50K for an MBA without any guaruntee that i'll get a MAJOR return on my investment.

this is something my wife is learning. she got a bachelors, masters, and will have a PHD, and has yet to turn all that education into cash money compared to me, who's been getting better and better jobs each time while sigificantly increasing my income with each new position.

My guy we have the internet now a days, anything you need to know you can find.

If you really have a businss mind go read up on what you need to and start hustling. Absolutely NO reason for anyone interested in business wasting time/money on a degree.
