Not sure why this is resurfacing but it is...

When Edward Norton was cast as Marvel Studios first Hulk, the actor said that the studio was behind his idea for a two-film series that he considered to be long, dark, and serious, much like Christopher Nolan was doing with Batman at the time.

"It’s literally the Promethean myth. I laid out a two-film thing: The origin and then the idea of Hulk as the conscious dreamer, the guy who can handle the trip. And they were like, ‘That’s what we want!’ As it turned out, that wasn’t what they wanted."

Norton goes on to say that he and Kevin Fiege got along great but what the two of them wanted were on two different tonal and thematic levels and Norton did not want to spend time working on Fiege's vision.

Fiege took a swipe at Norton when hiring Mark Ruffalo to replace him, stating the decision was based on needing someone who had a creative and collabortive spirit. Norton thought it was a cheap shot, but again maintains that no fighting occurred on set.

Hulk has yet to be given another film and there have been no suggestions made one will be coming in the future.

What was epsecially bad about this movie? It was an average film. Pacing wasnt that bad. Plot was typical for the hulk. CGI was decent. Track was generic. Good villains. For a first solo mcu films it was ok. I dont get it.

I thought it was dope, I would have liked to seen his vision though because it had potential to be wayyyyy better than it was.

Well... things worked out in the end for Marvel. Sooooooooo

:manny:

They got a company man who won't push back. Norton should have got his way. He would have helped take it to the next level instead of becoming a joke.

Sounds like the exact same thing that happened with Edgar Wright. He spent years working on developing his specific vision for Ant-Man and by the time he’d finished his idea didn’t fit in the cinematic universe they were trying to start building at the time.

Wright dragged his heels though. He had 4 movies come out before he finished his ant man script.
