Those are atrocities that were committed in Long Island, no doubt they deserve the federal 50 years they will all get. However, MS-13 is a small, very small (Trump some would say the smallest) gang, that is only transnational in a sense that that they have contacts in Honduras and El Salvador. They are killers, extortionists, we are talking about getting 50 pesos a week from bus drivers in South America. They are hyper violent, but they won't spread and they aren't a threat to 99% of Americans. The hyperbole around them is propaganda for hard line immigration policies and racism. La Eme in Southern Cali is much, much, more powerful.

The reason they are in the suburbs is because they are a small gang, and need to operate in territory like that, they are disorganized and unsophisticated, relatively speaking, and as far as drug trafficking, and Trump ranting about heroin, they are barely a factor.
