The truth is, there aren't many NFL quality starting quarterbacks in the NFL right now. Just look at the names on this combined league QB depth chart. I mean...Charlie Whitehurst and Tyrod Taylor? Matt Simms is on a practice squad...dude couldn't start for Tennessee in the SEC....and they have sucked for ten years. Scott Tolzien? I'd rather have JRR Tolkien...and he's dead. Joe Webb and TJ Yates? How about Spud Webb and TJ Hooker...old school.

Things are very out of whack because when you do get a really good QB, you HAVE to over pay him, and sometimes you screw up your entire salary cap situation a la the Saints...but what are you going to do? Let Brees go? I guess you could, but then you risk being one of those teams that goes a decade without sniffing a real QB.

The rules have almost killed the value of the RB position. The Vikings and Chiefs maybe should have traded Petersen and Charles at their peak value if they got a ton of picks. Then again, maybe they wouldn't GET a ton of picks. With platooning and arena football pass happy....

It looks like the Vikings and Colts hit the jackpot with QBs, while other clubs are in QB purgatory.
