Breh I ended up dedicated all of my Sunday afternoon trying to beat this abomination.
I finally did beat him. , no fairy dust magic
just pure steal and reflexes 
I ain't never gonna look at gargoyles the same again.

Go as far south as you can.
From the starting area I think it's actually southeast. When you reach a bridge called The Bridge Of Sacrifice you'll know you're in the right spot.
The first area you should explore is called The Weeping Peninsula.
The first dungeon you should do is Castle Morne, in that area.
Stay in that area until you get your weight up. It's the lowest level area in the game.
